# WebCast Feeds!!!

# Check this out. MSDN Webcast RSS feeds

Scobleizer posted this great link on his site. I know I'll be checking out some of these feeds for some great webcasts. Oh, cool, MSDN's Webcasts now have an RSS feed (er, several feeds). This is great news, cause the...

# re: Microsoft Webcasts RSS feeds are available here

What I would like to see is 'None of the Above'!

Instead I'd like to see an RSS feed of the webcasts that have been moved into the "Previously Recorded Webcasts" listing *for which the recording is **already** available.

I.e. the ones where I can access the recording.

Upcoming Webcasts don't help me as the timings don't usually suit me at all.

In fact despite Scobie's "correction", there seems to be only one RSS feed.

Certainly the first few listed items seem to lead to pages where the RSS syndication button leads to the same

Hi Mike,

Good feedback. The links you see the in the upcoming webcasts will be the same links you can use to attend these webcasts after they've already happened. These links are tracking urls. We swap out the destination urls in the back end from live to ondemand so that if the webcast is already happened you can still click on these links and watch them as on-demand.

Ideally, we should go back and grab all the webcasts we've done and provide them as an RSS feed. There is an effort underway to do something like this. Once we get an XML datafeed in placd from our registration system, we will be able to get an rss feed in place for the past webcasts that have taken place. There's still alot of work to be done on this.

Thanks Georgeo. I look forward to this RSS feed.

Can I throw in a request that items are added to the present previously recorded list (at http://www.microsoft.com/seminar/events/webcasts/ondemand.mspx) only when the recording is actually available ?

I've several times clicked on an item in this list and have been told "this web cast has already taken place please go to the list of previously recorded web casts" (which is where I am)

Sorry - this happens when the webcast has happened but the recording isn't yet available (although it is listed on the previously recorded list).

P.S. I should add that I am very positive about the availability of the webcasts! Thank you for getting them out in such numbers and varying levels of content.

Hi Mike,
You're right about the webcast recording not being available right away. It's actually ready about a few hours after the webcast is over, but on our end we're taking longer to make it available to the public. We tell everyone it should be ready within 2-3 business days, but I know we can do better here. I'll share this with my team and work on improving the turnaround for the ondemand webcasts.
