Mike Gordon, Lead Program Manager
Mike Gordon, lead program manager for
MSN Shopping
, worked for two decades in the newspaper industry as a writer, editor and designer in Los Angeles and Atlanta, winning two gold medals from the Society for News Design. He came to Microsoft in 1996 to help lead the startup of Sidewalk.com, the pioneering local entertainment and shopping site, where he was executive editor. At MSN Shopping, he did a complete redesign of the site’s user interface in 2005 and now leads a team of program managers working on new site features and Web services.
In his other life, Mike has performed with ethnic music and dance ensembles across the U.S., including a month-long tour of Hungary during the ’80s, and has appeared on nine indie recordings, mostly of music from the Balkans. He currently performs with
Balkanarama
and
Eva Moon
in Seattle. He plays a number of instruments, including clarinet, alto sax, electric bass and tambura, a traditional stringed instrument of southeastern Europe. He’s married to Web designer
Jody Levinson
and has two sons, Eric and Alan, attending Western Washington University.
