Thanks for the kinds words and encouragement, everyone. I really enjoy taking these photos, and now that others appreciate them too, I often look for situations that make "good wallpaper." If anyone has some suggestions, I'd be glad to try to incorporate them into future photos.

My screen only loaded one thumnail for some reason, but i didnt even bother to wait or try to refresh. I just clicked on the download all and nabbed them. You have an execelent eye for a great shot. I dont take them but my father is a shutter bug and I couldnt help but learn. Your work is amazing. Keep it up.

Rafael: Although I generally agree with Nick, I have found that my Nikon COOLPIX 5700 (since replaced by the 8700/8800) takes fantastic macro photos. Almost all of the images on this page were taken with it. The swivel LCD screen allows me to hold the camera in very awkward and unique orientations that I would find difficult (if not impossible) to accomplish with my Canon Rebel XT.

These photos evoke many different feelings or "words" rather... like the fuzzy leaf for "warmth" or the close up of a leaf and it's texture, "life". Or maybe... that's just me :)

I've been thinking about buying a macro lens for my Canon Rebel XT. Well, my neighbor let me borrow his Canon EF-S 60mm macro lens today, and I have to say that I'm very impressed! I'm sure I'll own one soon. In the meantime, enjoy the new images.

FYI...I just added two new images: Leaf 38 and Pumpkin 01. Pumpkin 01 is an older macro image that I took with my Nikon 5700. As I was preparing Leaf 38, I ran across it and figured that someone might like it. Enjoy!

Beautiful shots, but the iso noise is quite high in some, and the macro images are not as sharp as they should be....cannot beat the D200 by Nikon; but I am still enjoying a couple of these.....*neat image* works wonders for the noise...thank you for sharing..:-)

Simply stunning photographs! I love them all.

It would be better if they all used the sRGB color profile instead of Adobe RGB. People without color managed apps won't be able to see the true colors of the images.

FYI...just added eight new images: Flower 24, Flower 25, Leaf 40, Leaf 41, Leaf 42, Rock 01, Shell 01, and Shell 02. These were all taken on a trip down the Oregon coast this past week. The shell photos might be too "busy" for good wallpaper, but as usual, someone will probably like them. Enjoy!

@Ulas: Most of the newer shots were taken with a Canon Rebel XT and a Canon EF-S 60mm macro lens. The sharpness, color saturation, and lack of visible grain is a big improvement over the Nikon 5700 (no surprise, since the Canon has a much larger sensor). However, I'd guess about 1/2 or more of the shots (older, lower-numbered) are from the 5700.

FYI...I just added seven new images on 8/19/2007: Flower 27, Flower 28, Flower 29, Flower 30, Flower 31, Leaf 45, and Water 07. I posted Leaf 45, because I think some people will like it. However, it is a busy photo, and it might not make the most effective wallpaper. Water 07 is a purposely-blurred photo of the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy!

Your site is one of the more popular wallpaper sites around. It's because your pictures are great and because they have high resolution and is available for widescreen monitors as well!

But hey man, the comments list on this page is getting too long. It's seriously beginning to affect the downloading time of this page. That can turn people away. Is there a way you can cut down on the amount of comments or maybe separate the wallpapers and comments?

FYI...I added ten new images today: Gourd 01, Gourd 02, Gourd 03, Gourd 04, Gourd 05, Gourd 06, Gourd 07, Gourd 08, Leaf 46, and Pine Cone 01. Except for Leaf 46, all of the other photos came from my wife's collection of seasonal gourds and a pine cone she found near our house. This is also a milestone addition...there are now more than 100 images in the collection!

FYI...I just uploaded three new images: Christmas 05 and Christmas 06 are photos of some packages my wife wrapped. Coffee 01 was an idea I had that didn't turn out quite like I had hoped, but I think someone might like it.

FYI...I just added ten new images: Flower 34, Flower 37, Flower 38, Flower 39, Leaf 48, Leaf 51, Rock 02, Seed 01, Water 10, and Wood 04. Water 10 is from some experimental food coloring photos, and Wood 04 is a tree stump in front of the Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington. Enjoy!

these are really cool photos, and i'm going to use them as my wallpapers. One thing about your wallpapers is that they're actually good to use as wallpapers - some pictures out there have distracting things on the left hand side that make the desktop icons look bad.

Omg your pictures are just awesome! I have dual screen at work and one of my screens is normal so the whole picture shows and the other screen is more magnified so it has a close-up of a part of the wallpaper, the picture looks perfect on both screens. Great job!

Some nice stuff but a bit 'Samey' if you know what i mean. Its just lots of close ups of fruit n veg with some other stuff throwen in. A good base to start of from i Think but you need to be a bit more creative for my taste. Get some insects or wildlife in there as well . Maybe have some filters on while u shoot or touch them up in paint shop or similair gfx package. Anybody could take these pics with a half way decent digi camera. As a photographer we expect nae demand creativity from you :) Hope you enjoy the challange and look forward to seeing what you come up with !

Thank you so much for posting them on your blog and making them available to everyone. They really add to the quality of the images on the internet instead of the low-standard pictures that have proliferated. Really easy to find on google too with "wallpaper flower macro" and the like on 'extra large' image setting.

Stunning. Absolutely STUNNING! It's interesting how simple subjects (and talent) can produce amazing results. How about some Thanksgiving related pics...maybe a couple more for Christmas? I love your more 'abstract' view of things Christmas-related, not the same ol' Santas and snow. Great stuff!

Incredible! Very nice detail on the images - makes you want to reach out and touch the screen.

Now I have to find a utility that cycles through pictures in a folder and sets them as wallpapers, just like Windows 7!

Thanks for the updates - I try to change my wallpaper with the seasons and it's time to move away from cold winter images to something green and warm-looking, even if it's still cold outside. I always check the pictures here first (well, after I check my own photos) and unless I have something very particular in mind I usually find something suitable.

뭐를 고르든 컴퓨터 바탕화면에 잘 어울리고...

I added one new image, Leaf 49. Also, at the request of *many* visitors, I started to release some of the "old" images in a larger 2560 x 1600 size which works well with 30" monitors.
