RichEdit 4.0 was developed for Office 2002. Thanks for the correction (which I have made to the post). Spell checking involves dictionaries and I guess these only come with more elaborate applications. But good point too.&lt;/p&gt;

The management deliberately keeps WordPad crippled (no spell check) to ensure Word sales? Or is that for compatibility? WordPad needs to be like Microsoft WORKS Word Processor and Word as the full-fledged editor in Office.&lt;/p&gt;
