Coming RSN: New Microsoft Australia and New Zealand Architecture Website
I've been busy putting together a new architecture web site for our group. This is a long overdue initiative, and hopefully we'll be able to keep the new site more up to date by the clever use of syndication to pull content in from this blog (amongst others) to keep it current. At the moment, I've been concentrating on getting the basic structure of the site in place. I've included pages detailing who our team is, some really really useful PDC content for those of you who want to get a good overview of where our platform is going over the next couple of years (and longer), news on events and webcasts, patterns and practices as well as case studies. Over time, I'd also like to step away from the architecture site being too developer centric. It's fairly obvious to me (and should be to you too) that most architects have concerns that reside on both the infrastructure as well as the development side of the fence, so our content should start to reflect this with more infrastructure type material going up as well as the usual application solution architecture stuff.
I'll be soliciting a lot more content and articles from our local community - after all, what's the point of having a localised site if we don't have local content! If you are interested in contributing to this effort, drop me a line and we'll chat about it. I've already got some articles lined up from various architects around the traps, but am always keen to see more. This means you too, Kiwis.
Anyway, the site is due to go live sometime in the next few days - I'll post a URL when its up. We're also planning on publishing an email-based architecture newsletter once every couple of months to keep everybody up to date with what we're doing locally, as well as interesting things from abroad. The first newsletter will also go out sometime in the next couple of weeks, so if you are interested in receiving this, feel free to subscribe here.
[update 26/11] BTW, to clear up any confusion, the rego process will spit you out at the old www.microsoft.com/australia/msdn/architects.aspx page; the new site has not yet gone live - I'm expecting it'll be up on Monday.
