shlock (1) - Nigels Retrospective

Nigel Watson, an Architect Advisor at Microsoft, based in Melbourne Australia.
ASWEC2007: Unloading can be cathartic!

I'm an Industry Track paper reviewer for the 2007 Australian Software Engineering Conference, being held in Melbourne in April this year.  The venue is booked... the track committees and chairs selected... sponsors are being charmed... and now all we need are people to share war stories, ideas, and experiences in the Industry track.

This is a great opportunity to talk about your favourite (or not so favourite) project in front of your peers.  Some of the topic areas you might consider are:

  • Architecting Software as a Service solutions
  • Large-scale information systems development
  • Enterprise application integration
  • Building interoperable applications
  • Building secure systems
  • Novel development method experiences (eg. Agile, Aspect Oriented)
  • Adopting new technologies
  • Model driven development experience
  • Service oriented architecture case studies
  • Advanced web services projects
  • Patterns and practices
  • Measuring ROI
  • Software project management challenges
  • Enterprise architecture and governance issues
  • Technology acquisition methods and experiences
  • Outsourcing experiences
  • Local product development success stories
  • Vertical industry project case studies

... or create your own topic.  You'll have to hurry, though - abstracts (200 words or thereabouts) need to be submitted by the 4th Feb.
