You may know that the Flood was caused by the very first rain ever on Earth. You see it never rained before the Flood. There was just a mist in the whole atmosphere. I imagine there was no wind or strong winds, no climate or temperature changes. All it took was to force all those misty dropplets to join together to form heavy rain drops and the whole system came down to start a new system of seasons, periodic climate chanes, hurricanes, etc.

After the whole earth got flooded, then some water was swallowed up underground and the redst began to evaporate and start the evaporation-rain-evaporation cycle with accompanied seasonal climate changes.

Gen 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
