SQL Server 2005 Report Packs for Microsoft Dynamics Axapta 3.0

Please find below for your information details around the new SQL Server 2005 Report Pack with a specific focus on the pre requisites for Microsoft Dynamics Axapta 3.0. I’ve had a quick look at what is required for Axapta and the pre reqs are as follows (as per the “read me” file after download):

Server:
Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services

Client:
Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or later
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with report designer installed (for uploading or modifying the reports)

The “read me” will walk you through what is required to install and attach the reports to the existing Axapta installation.

If you don’t have SQL 2005 installed, a kernel is available, and here’s the details I’ve obtained on that:

Axapta 3.0 Kernel Rollup 1 supports SQL Server 2005. Download it from: https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/downloads/servicepack/kernelrollup1.htm?printpage=false

However, Axapta 3.0 Kernel Rollup 1 does not work with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. If you are running OLAP and reporting with your existing implementation, do not upgrade to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services. SQL Server 2005 databases are supported running with SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services.
