Microsoft changes the game plan for JD Edwards - SharePoint
I just read the article, Microsoft Change the Game Plan for JD Edwards Professionals. This is an article that comes as a result of Microsoft's latest announcement to expand the ability of its products to interoperate and share data with other software.
According to the announcement, the changes are codified into four new interoperability principles:
1) ensuring open connections;
2) promoting data portability;
3) enhancing support for industry standards;
4) fostering more open engagement with customers and the industry, including open source communities.
The implications of are great and as the JD Edwards article relates, it's good news that will bring about change. How many other software companies will consider the change? From the article...
"What intrigues us about this announcement are the ways in which JD Edwards customers could use these APIs and protocols. Could it be possible, for instance, to integrate World and EnterpriseOne modules with SharePoint Server 2007 at key touch points?
