A new Data Import Wizard, kind of...

My post today is only to reveal that the PerformancePoint Server Data Import Wizard has been decoupled from Dynamics AX so that any data provider for source financial data can be created to plug into the PPS Planning DB. Don't fear, a data provider for Dynamics AX (latest release) is being created. Note: A provider is a managed .NET class library that is comprised of a set of classes that implement data retrieval for a particular source system or systems, usually within the context of a particular data domain. See the Data Integration Toolkit help (from the toolkit download here).

Here is an introduction.

The Data Import Wizard provides a simple, guided integration wizard that enables users to configure and move data from source systems into Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007. For the wizard to work, customers and partners must develop their own data providers for integrating source financial data.

Microsoft provides the PerformancePoint 2007 Data Integration Toolkit so that customers can develop a data provider. This toolkit is a companion tool that provides a data integration framework
