Compare / Contrast PPS Analytics with ProClarity Analytics Server
Here is response I found to the following questions.
- What’s in PPS and not in ProClarity ?
- What’s in ProClarity and not (natively) in PPS ?
RESPONSE:
- What’s in ProClarity and not (natively) in PPS ?
- Visualizations – Decomp Tree, Performance Map, Perspective View
- Business Logic Server – KPI Designer and Selector
- Standalone Dashboarding (i.e. without WSS/MOSS)
- Custom rollups/named sets
- Dimensional selection tool in thin client
- Briefing Books/My Views
- Embedding KPI icons in analytic grids
- What’s in PPS and not in ProClarity ?
- Integrated scorecarding and planning (as part of the complete offering)
- Vastly improved integration with WSS/MOSS
- Cross-drill directly within analytic charts/grids (IMO, the *coolest* feature in the PPS M&A package to-date)
- Retention of versions of content
- Dashboard creation – 1000x easier in PPS vs. ProClarity (since it’s all done in the same tool)
- Improved integration with SSRS/Office content

I also know that "customers interested in using PerformancePoint Server for analytics will almost certainly install and use the ProClarity Analytics Server, and Microsoft has added a report type in PerformancePoint Server that ties to a report, called a view in ProClarity Analytics Server." See Craig Utley's book, Deliver BI Solutions with Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007.
