Tech·Ed U.S. 2008 Expands!
To better serve the distinct needs of the Developer and IT Professional communities in the United States, Tech·Ed U.S. is evolving from a one week conference into two back-to-back conferences in Orlando, Florida:
· Tech·Ed U.S. 2008 Developers, June 3-6, and
· Tech·Ed U.S. 2008 IT Professionals, June 10-13
The two week format is designed to provide the same Tech·Ed experience, but with expanded learning opportunities for attendees, which means more sessions and the need for more speakers.
The below information will help as you think about session ideas you would like to submit and speak on at Tech·Ed.
Developer Audience
The expected 4,000 attendees at Tech·Ed U.S. 2008 Developers are developers, solution architects, designers and testers looking to engage with Microsoft and take a deep dive into the latest enterprise development solutions using Microsoft's developer tools, frameworks, and platforms. Content focuses on current and soon-to-release Microsoft products and technologies with expanded coverage of technologies available for Community Technology Preview (CTP) and released to market prior to the next Tech·Ed U.S.
IT Professionals Audience
The expected 7,500 attendees at Tech·Ed U.S. 2008 IT Professionals are looking to collaborate and network with Microsoft staff and other IT professionals to learn how to architect, plan, deploy, manage, and secure a connected enterprise. Content focuses on current and soon-to-release products and technologies with expanded coverage of technologies available for Community Technology Preview (CTP) and released to market prior to the next Tech·Ed U.S.
Tech·Ed 2008 kicks off in the U.S. and is followed by international Tech·Ed events that leverage much of the same content. Sessions also are distributed on the post-event DVD, as well as shared on Virtual Tech·Ed<http://www.virtualteched.com>.
Types of Sessions
- Breakout Sessions are lecture based sessions that run for 75 minutes including Q&A time. Room sizes range from 200-2,000 attendees. Breakout sessions are the core content delivery method for Tech·Ed.
- TLC Interactive Theater Sessions are small, informal discussions that take place in the Technical Learning Center (TLC) and are designed to compliment Breakout session content. Interactive Theater presentations can include chalk-talks, panel discussions, Q&A sessions and demo drill-downs. These sessions seat 30-50 people and are not designed to be additional Breakout sessions. Although typically run by a Microsoft product group member, you are welcome to suggest a topic you can co-present with someone from Microsoft.
- Lunch Sessions/Panels are non-product centric and can range from discussions on industry trends, understanding Microsoft product licensing and support, getting the most from Microsoft Learning, how to write for MSDN or TechNet magazines, etc. These sessions take place during lunch in Breakout session rooms.
