My dissertation surrounds the ways in which various industries are adapting social media tools (I study Cultural and Media Studies), with specific focus on differing approaches to uptake (why some indusrties are more reluctant than others), impacts of uptake and which media are preferred. I came across a blog post that I'm using as one of my research control units (monitoring various blogs to get inside-industry perspective on discussions surrounding this issue (see http://meettheboss.com/Discussion.aspx?discussionID=248) so that I can get quick access to direct industry quotes (propper referencing will obviously apply) so if anyone out there would care to comment it would certainly make for richer academic material (and hopefully help me get my MA!). Thanks for your time.

I think that Oil and Gas world has a lot to learn from the power of social networking. In what seems to be a very conservative industry Oil and Gas maybe one of the last to catch on but could prove the most innovative in using such technologies. For example oil and gas jobs is a global market for companies that use twitter they can reach they audience directly...
