Rapid Development, by Steve McConnell

Mfp mentions two books in one of his posts: "Code Complete" and "Rapid Development" by Steve McConnell. He expresses exactly what I felt after having read them both. The only thing that I would add to that, is that Rapid Development is a "must read" not only for leads and management, but for private developers as well, because Steve describes all possible mistakes that would lead a developer to not having complete his tasks in time. Moreover, Steve gives recommendations on how to prevent these mistakes, and this knowledge is invaluable. By the way, the developer who has that knowledge, will definitely help his PMs and testers be more productive. So even if a manager has never read this book, but all his developers have - the team will succeed anyway, unless the manager hastily ignores his developers' arguments at team meetings.
