Dr Ian Hoyle, Principal Architect Technology Enterprise IT Strategy, BHP Billiton

Ian has developed one of the initial corporate connections to the Internet in Australia, sparking a continuing interest in information sharing and collaboration in the World’s largest resources company. He has worked on major infrastructure projects such as the merger of BHP & Billiton, the design and roll out of their current global network, messaging and instant messaging services and is focusing on “unified communications” more recently. Holding a PhD in geophysics, Ian was previously assigned to BHP’s Research Labs working in signal processing and scientific visualisation research. Ian has ongoing responsibility for BHP Billiton’s infrastructure technology directions.
