Announcing the Silverlight Blueprint for SharePoint

Crosspost from my teams blog.

The Microsoft Software + Services Blueprint folks have been kind enough to build a blueprint for the use of Silverlight in SharePoint Web Parts. The Silverlight Blueprint for SharePoint is source code and guidance for developers describing how to use Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies together in business applications and Internet web sites. SharePoint applications that use Web Parts can now be built using Silverlight user interface elements. This capability enables a fresh look at data exposed through SharePoint Products and Technologies using the modern graphics capability in Silverlight.

For more information about samples that we’ve built that you can reuse, customize, or extend for your SharePoint web sites and for links to downloads and screencasts click here to go to the Silverlight Blueprint for SharePoint page on MSDN.

Paul Andrew

I saw that most samples work only with SilverLight 2.0.

It's true ?

Where I can find Silverlight 2.0 ?

Paul, I noticed this underneath the requirements-

"Silverlight 2.0 is required. The example download that is available uses Silverlight 2"

So, do you need the alpha or beta release of silverlight to run the samples?

Hi Paul,

Now that Silverlight 2 is out, I was testing the Social Networking sample which uses a WCF service running from SharePoint. I followed all the instructions to configure it, but it's not working. I can place the webpart on the page but nothing shows up. I've tested the WCF service and it's working. Same thing happening with the Hello World sample. Any tips on where I can get support for it ?

Just attempted to add the socialnetworking webpart onto a page of our WSS 3.0 SP1 on a x64 OS.  This error message appears "Unable to add selected web part  Silverlight Blueprint for Sharepoint: Silverlight 2 Colleague Viewer Web part: A web part or Web form control on this page cannot be displayed or imported.  The type is not registered as safe."

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
