Yes its called PGP, dont use Encrypted Volumes on NTFS cuz its SHITE and fucked up big time.

Ewwwhh.. Sure these means may stop the less-techy, and the terminal approach would not prevent the ftp/emailing necessarily - though that traffic could be scanned also, imagine if the sensitive documents had pictures with some sort of watermark that would be easy to detect from network traffic (yeah right.. but possible). Though user could still encrypt those if such ability was allowed, preventing the traffic scan.

So what's the next logical step? Well information just wants to be free you know. Oh you heard that one already?
