Architect Summit 4.10.2007, Hotel Hilton Helsinki Strand Ballroom

Sekä yritykset että julkishallinnon organisaatiot hakevat lisää tehokkuutta ja kilpailukykyä keskittymällä ydintoimintaansa ja verkottumalla syvemmin kumppanien kanssa. Palvelupohjaisilla arkkitehtuureilla haetaan kykyä verkottumiseen ja joustavuutta liiketoiminnan muutoksille. Samalla toivotaan säästöä palvelujen uudelleenkäytöstä. Tietotekniikan aito kumppanuus liiketoiminnan kanssa edellyttää tietohallinnolta, sovellusalustalta sekä arkkitehtuurimenetelmiltä ja -prosesseilta hyvää kypsyystasoa.

Tule kuuntelemaan miten arkkitehtuuria voi käyttää tietotekniikan ja liiketoiminnan yhteispelin pelilautana. Näe miten Valtiovarainministeriön ValtIT-yksikkö hyödyntää arkkitehtuuria kehittämisen ohjaamiseen. Kuule mitä etua Sovellukset + Palvelut (Software + Services) -malli tuo ja miten se toteutetaan palveluarkkitehtuuria (SOA) ja ulkoisia sovelluspalveluja (SaaS) hyödyntäen.

Ydintoimintaan keskittyminen ja syvä verkottuminen luovat kilpailuetua. Paikallisesti toimivien sovellusten ja verkon yli käytettävien palvelujen yhteiskäyttö (Software + Service -malli) yhdistää molempien mallien hyvät puolet. Kuule mitä etuja mallilla on saavutettavissa ja mitä se vaatii organisaatiosi sovellusalustalta.

Yritysarkkitehtuurikehikoita ja -menetelmiä on vuosien varrella tullut ja mennyt. Tällä hetkellä yleisimmin sovelletut menetelmät ovat Zachmann Framework for Enterprise Architectures, Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF), Federal Enterprise Architecture ja Gartner Methodology. Kuule lyhyt esittely menetelmistä ja näe mitä eroa niillä on toisiinsa nähden.

Being an Architect in an Agile World (EN),

For a few years now there’s been a lot of buzz about ”Agile” software development, and there are several popular methods out there for achieving it. Most of them play down, or downright condemn, software architecture. Where does this leave us solution and enterprise architects, especially in customer projects where we more or less always have to consider the big picture?

In this talk I will briefly touch on the basics of Agile software development, and then focus on why an architect should be interested in Agile software development, and where the architect fits in. I will also explore how architecture could be made a part of an Agile approach, based on my own experiences.

Models have always been our favourite way to express ourselves on Visio, on white boards or even on a napkin. However, when starting to code, usually the original models become out of date and are never reused. Join us in this quest after the new parts of the Microsoft Modeling Framework and how they promise to make models become reusable. We will assume the roles of the architects of the Matrix (the Movie) and build application, system and deployment diagrams using Visual Studio Team Edition for Software Architects 2008. Later, we will learn to build Domain Specific Languages (DSL) using the DSL Toolkit. To summarize, we will review the bigger picture of software factories and the ones that are out there.

This talk will discuss possible architectures and how government institutions and partners can leverage these initiatives using Office Business Application and Software + Services thinking.

Architect and Develop Search-Enabled Enterprise Applications (EN),

As part of a holistic Enterprise Search strategy, modern applications have to be designed to become searchable. In this session we’re going to discuss how to crawl and index existing line-of-business (LOB) applications to ensure that their data becomes searchable. But it’s not only about "becoming-searchable". A new type of "search-enabled" application can take advantage of the query engine to create a consistent search experience across different applications and leverage the search results as an integrated part of the application. Such applications might use the query Web Service to retrieve search results that can be displayed and formatted according to the needs of the application itself, which provides the user with an integrated but consistent search experience across the different systems and applications.

Identity Management Challenges inside the Web (EN),

According to Microsoft technical fellow Gary Flake, identity management is the glue that holds together any of the web ecosystems seen today and in the near future. This talk will discuss the challenges in this space including user centrism, reputation and identity metasystems.
