Developer Security Website Feedback!
Many Thanks to those of you who have posted feedback about the new Developer focused Security website - See previous entry!
It was a tough call launching the site when we knew that we had more material to come. The thinking was that we had enough to run with that would be useful to you as Developers, but we also felt we had numerous ideas on how to progress the site...but really wanted to get a feel from the community on our direction.
I can understand the feeling that this is yet another Microsoft site. All I can say is that we on the Application Security initiative are in it for the duration. We want to deliver what we hope will benefit everyone trying to write more secure code. All comments are being taken on board and we will endeavor to include good ideas in our refreshes. Please keep feeding back through my blog or through the site.
So for reference here is a snapshot of what will be coming in the website refresh:-
Joe Stagner will be posting monthly articles and advice around his Blackbelt Series:
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/msdn/security/blackbelt_home.mspx
Stephen Lamb will be launching a new page on Infrastructure Security for Developers, carrying on the theme from our security evening last week.
Alex Mackman will be doing a monthly post on guidance around Security Patterns and Practices and Application Blocks:
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/msdn/security/patterns_practices.mspx
I will be posting useful news, articles and guidance around our technologies:
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/msdn/security/evangelist_tales.mspx
We will also be publishing new webcasts, PowerPoints, White Papers, podcasts etc.
In the mean time start reviewing the material already on the site and take some time to watch the webcasts and review the PowerPoints on common Application Security issues that face us today:

I will look to refine the portal of links, to make it easier to view. I should add whilst there is a lot of material under the Desktop, Web and Enterprise portal - a lot of time and effort has gone into trying to make your life easier as a Developer by presenting a list of useful material that exists out there (and there is a lot of it) in a central location.
The Developer Security Highway Code is due for release end of December/early January - we are very proud of this piece of work, we hope you will find it useful also.
Thanks for the feedback about the RSS feed - it's things like this, look and feel of the site, navigation improvement suggestions and overall positive feedback on how we can improve your site (because it is your site) is gratefully received.
Thanks - Paul Maher
