New Zealand Imagine Cup Software Design Preliminary Finals 2007 - Finalists Announced

Microsoft’s Imagine Cup, is the world’s premier student technology competition, designed to inspire the world’s best and brightest young minds to explore technological and artistic interests outside the classroom and create the “must have” technology and communications applications of the future. This year students were asked to design a software program which helps enable a better education for all.
On Tuesday 5th June, teams from across the country presented their unique idea to the industry judges at Microsoft for the Software Design Invitational Preliminary Finals. The judges chose the top three teams based on a comprehensive range of criteria. The finalists are:
§ Auckland University of Technology, AUT Champs. Project: Linguistica, a foreign language learning program
§ University of Otago, Team T4. Project: C³, a project group collaboration program
§ Waikato University, Ackermen. Project: Gary’s Lab, an educational game for learning physics
The top three teams will now present their software project to a panel of industry and academic judges on Friday 22nd June in Auckland. The winners will receive an all expenses paid trip to represent New Zealand at the Imagine Cup Worldwide finals in Seoul, a chance to win US$25,000 plus Microsoft Windows Vista and 2007 Office systems and a 12 month MSDN subscription.
