    About JrzyShr Dev Guy

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my blog.  Here are a few answers to some questions you're probably thinking:

    Who am I?

My name is Peter Laudati.  For those of you who haven’t met me before, I am a Developer Evangelist for Microsoft from the New Jersey & New York area.

What?!  A Developer Evangelist?!  What does that mean, you ask?

As a DE, I get to do a lot of cool things.  But mainly, I have two roles:  I spend about half of my time providing support and education for Microsoft customers working with the .NET development platform.  I spend the other half of my time supporting the community of .NET developers at large through things like user group activities, helping out at various events such as Code Camps, and now… this blog!

    Where did I come from?

I recently took on the role of Developer Evangelist after spending several years working in Microsoft Consulting Services.  As an MCS guy, I spent most of my time doing architecture and development projects for large enterprise customers throughout the metro area.  I also did a stint with the Microsoft patterns & practices team, helping them out with a couple of books, including one on interoperability between .NET and J2EE.  A lot of the most recent work I did with MCS focused on architecture and back-end server applications, using technologies such as EIF, EDRA, and the Enterprise Library.

    What are my interests?

Well, besides kayaking and biking (which I rarely get to do now that I have a family with two kids and a dog), I’m a geek at heart.  I’m a big fan of music and radio.  Every fall, I spend Saturdays following the plight of my alma matta’s team, the Hokies.  As you can tell by the title (for now) of this blog, I’m also from New Jersey.  How else could a guy from Jersey fend off the Jersey jokes other than to just answer “Exit 117”?

Note: For those of you not from the north east US, when someone says they’re from Jersey, the next question is always “What exit?”

What will this blog be about?

It’s hard to say what shape this blog will take over time.  The plan is to let the bits + bytes come out as they do.  One of my goals with this blog is to help foster the .NET developer community at large.  To help with that, I’ll keep folks up to date on the various events going on around here.  While I’m at it, I’ll try to share my experiences with many of the technologies that I’ve worked with and with the new ones I’m learning.  There are a lot of great things coming down the pike from Microsoft in the next year.  I’m excited about them, and hopefully I can share that excitement with you!
