What is the application process for students? I have a first grader and a sixth grader. For my sixth grader I am definitely starting to look at High Schools with not a high level of faith in my neighborhood school. My first grader is in the spanish immersion program at ICS which is in center city. Thank you for your time.

I just looked at the school of the future website it's amazing how technology has advanced so much that the new students to the Microsoft school don't even have to carry books around they now have access to laptop computers with internet access i wish we wou;d have had something like that when i attended school. I'm a High School graduate of Overbrook Sch for the blind.

I'm excited to hear about the happenings at the High School of the Future! I want to see pictures, see PowerPoint presentations, read stories about what and how students are learning and how they perceive it. I want to read students' & teachers' blogs and see how Education is transforming and is at its peak at the High School of the Future.

I'm not sure what the appropriate phrase would be in education. Actors would say 'break a leg', but from way down in Santiago, Chile, I will just say all the very best, and we will follow your progress closely... Hopefully that will include being able to visit and see in the not too distant future.

How can they justify spending all that money on one school when many of the other Philadelphia public schools are falling apart?

In 1841 Chilean president Manuel Montt sent educator Sarmiento to the U.S. and Europe to check upon educational practices that could be adapted to our country. He came back and his writings transformed education first in Chile, then in Argentina, where he would eventually become president. I was in your school last Monday October 1st as part of a Chilean delegation that was received by Mary Cullinane, Dr. Grove, and Paul Vallas, as well as by teachers, students and members of the community who generously gave their time and energy to us. I have come back changed. As a journalist, I am publishing my story next Sunday and feel very much as Mr. Sarmiento in 1841, bringing home the ideas you have so hard fought for. Thank you.-

Dear Mary --

I have read your blog after hearing the NPR piece on the school.

I'd like to help in the College Entrance arena. I'm the director of Ivy Bound / Rising Stars. Our forte is test prep. We work with individuals, schools, and community groups to prepare students for the SAT, AP, and SAT Subject Tests.

I'd like to offer a non-profit program for the ambitious Sophomores and/or Juniors. Our Philadelphia instructors would come to the school, during the school day, after school, or on weekends.

While we still use pencil and paper to best mimic the yet-to-be-computerized SAT, we can deliver lectures through the internet, with our most seasoned instructors "beaming in" from other states and even other countries.

Please contact me regarding your SAT plans. Our success has been very high -- last year's students reported average improvements of 125.6 points (pre-Ivy Bound to post Ivy Bound scoreas on the 1600 scale). Among self-selecting diligent students that I expect pupolate your school, I expect to see 200 point improvements routinely.

What did Microsoft contribute?

Did the school district have to buy all the products from Microsoft?
