I returned a few months ago to Microsoft after a little more than two years away from the company. I graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech (I'm also a diehard hokie fan) in 2002.

re: Welcome to my blog!

What did you do during your 2 years you were gone?

The reason I left Microsoft was that I had to move to Washington D.C. for a short while for personal reasons. During that time, I worked for a consulting company called Avanade (a Microsoft-Accenture joint child company) and then for an intelligent video analytics company called ObjectVideo. I met and worked with some fantastic people during that short period of time and it was quite invaluable. Since I recently had the chance to move back to Seattle, I jumped at the chance to rejoin Microsoft. I'm lucky enough to have returned to such a great team filled with people I've worked with since my first internship in 1999. Thanks for the questions!
