Hi PJ, interesting posting, I've been using wss and sps for some time now and I'm looking forward to the next version. I've deployed some wiki's and blog servers in my organization and they fill a need that the current sparepoint products don't. I think you'll hit the blog solution right on the head becasue I also believe that the MySite thing fits it perfectly. But I was looking at socialtext's software the other day and it is very interesting. I'm wondering if the team sites should be more wiki like instead of the other way around.

Also, I'm curious about the future of SharePoint's authentication/permission system with reguard to wiki's and blogging. At first I loved the integrated IIS authentication, but now I'd much rather have a form based login. Mostly beacuse people get confused when url's are thrown around with the FQDN instead of the short name.

There's a great Blog definition Template for Blogging with SharePoint UI at www.collutions.com by Jim Duncan, I dont know yet the Blog integration with SPS vNext but I think that would be great if this would have the features that cBlog Site definition by Jim has., probably to add the feature for a powerfull post editor, images, atc..., and to have the chance to categorize posts not only by creation date , but also by tipic or other that the owner specify...

Michael: Yes, we plan to support the <enclosure> tag.

Tom: We plan to support ASP.Net's Forms based auth, so that should meet your needs. As you are aware, collaborative tools such as a blog, discussion or wiki don't work so well if all posts (and comments) are posted by <anonymous>.

Thanks for your great info on Sharepoint V3.

Using Sharepoint V3, I'm interested in building www.CommuniDB.com, a large public Wiki for non-technical users.
- where can I get more details, as see screenshots, or a demo?
- does the new Wiki have WYSIWYG editing in a web browser? (You mentioned "rapid page authoring, easy linking, versioning etc.")
- who might be able to host this beta for me (I'd be a great beta tester!)

PS: The wiki Metadata feature sounds cool & useful ("One capability in WSS wikis that we have found quite appealing during our internal testing is the ability to extend the schema of a wiki page in quite a non-wiki way by allowing metadata to be added to the wiki page and all future pages.")

I'm working in the University of Chicago and am very interested in this feature.
We have 75% of the development done for an internal wiki site but were halted when someone cried Sharepoint. Now the question is, how to migrate. Add the collaborative and non technical features wiki offers and the aforementioned blogging etc and well it'd be a boon to have wiki services integrated.

I do know of http://www.wssdemo.com/wiki/default.aspx
which shows promise but having MS buy in I imagine could really improve upon al we're discussing.

When might we see betas in msdn etc?

Does SharePoint's blogging feature allow you to create a "Read More" link for long posts?

Also, is there anyway to offer a "Subscribe to Comments" feature with the comments area?

Are there additional plugins and administrative controls that I'm missing?
