Lists are really useful as a tracking tool; they can easily be sorted, filtered, grouped. They can be easily edited and the Datasheet control can be used for bulk list operations.

re: Tracking Applications in WSS

Nice Screenshots!

Cheers.

re: Tracking Applications in WSS

Thanks EROL

re: Tracking Applications in WSS

We're currently working on the specs for a system to manage workflow with a bunch of chemicals that have to be periodically retested, mostly on an annual basis.

We would like to do this with SPS (& Outlook), but the lack of "due date reminders" from the Sharepoint side may be a show-stopper for us for this approach. This will help overcome the problem of task owners not knowing that a task (perhaps on a list that they don't visit regularly) had been assigned to them."

Is this only available for certain list types? I see this option on my site's task lists and issues list, but for custom lists I've created I don't have this option even with the Assigned To field in the list.

Why would this feature be limited to only certain lists?

If I only update Descritpion field with info., while leaving the Actions field blank when I save the item; the Actions field becomes blank (i.e. without previous Actions that I entered) when I export it to Excel 2003.

I need to show all the latest updates and old ones that I entered on all 'Append Only' fields. Could you please advise how I could do it as everyone is using it.
