The PowerPoint Team Blog

From the PowerPoint team at Microsoft.
That's Nacho WordArt!

This weekend the new Jack Black movie Nacho Libre opened everywhere.

Nacho Libre Movie Poster

This movie's very distinctive 3D title graphic is something that you can do directly on title text in PowerPoint 2007 because it uses the new OfficeArt 2.0 text engine.

Nacho Libre WordArt

This particular effect has "retro" appeal and only hints at all that you can do.  You can apply any of OfficeArt's new effects to all text in PowerPoint.  This includes photo-realistic 3D, gradient and picture fills, reflections, soft shadows and more.  We'll be doing a more in depth look at OfficeArt 2.0's text capabilities in a future post.

We thought you might enjoy this fun WordArt.  You'll probably enjoy it more than the film itself since the Tomato  Meter is currently giving it just a 38%. ;-)

Will WordArt in Word get the same facilites as WordArt in PowerPoint? In Beta 2, Word's WordArt seems much more like the original than PowerPoint's updated version.

Hi Simon,

This general question about Word's capabilities came up in a previous post.  Check out my comment on the subject here:
