The slide layouts and themes are fantastic, but can you explain why you've removed "Insert from scanner" from the 2007 release? (I've had a couple of questions about this and for some it is taking the gloss off a great product.)

Gill, yes, unfortunately, the Insert from Scanner and Camera feature was removed in Office 2007. This was a difficult call, but I think for the best of the product overall. The feature supported a limited number of scanners and the camera support had not been updated for some time. We came to the conclusion that most users would be better off using the software that came with their camera, scanner or even built into Windows, to get their images from their device, to the file system, and then use the Insert Picture command to get them into Office. The downside, is that for some users, this feature did work and so will be missed.

I really miss the insert from scanner. Word was my default application for doing quick scanning. I could just import, make a few format changes and print. I never had any trouble with scanners not working with Word. I'm a consultant, and used it as my default app when testing scanners. Word loaded very quickly, and was easy. Very disappointed with this being excluded.

I am also disapionted that the insert from scanner feature has been removed. It has been a very useful quick and simple tool. Is it likely that this feature could be avaliable as a addin?
