Looks compatible with the Win7 RTM bits - this is exactly the sort of thing we were begging for in the last thread.   Thank you very much.

I'm just wondering why we need different versions for different opererating systems at all. I mean powershell is build on top of the .Net framework. It also builds partly on WinRM and bits etc. So why do you care what os ps is running on?

# Powershell 2.0 RC...Not for all Vistas it seems

Hi all:

Before everyone in 'the rest of the world' jump and uninstall CTP3:

The WMF package does not install on all Vista configurations!

One of my machines has Vista Home Premium, the Dutch language Windows version that is, and SP1 (Dutch SP2 not out yet). This machine runs Powershell 2.0 CTP3 smoothly, but the next step still has to wait until ...?

@Eigner,

Yes, it does run on the .NET Framework, but even the Framework has APIs that don't work for all OS.

An extreme example is Server Core, the Framework doesn't provide any GUI features.

Still whenever a product is released, Microsoft will go through a testing process for each OS.

So this is RC not final release.  Any idea when the final release is scheduled for?

Hello,

Can you roughly estimate when the RC will be available for XP and 2003.

It doesn't install for me on 32-bit Server 2008 SP1, it complains it isn't for this OS, which is odd. Runs CTP3 fine.

If this is a RC, does this mean a RTM is what we need to wait on before deploying to production boxes ?

Also when i downloaded from

https://connect.microsoft.com/windowsmanagement/Downloads

it mentions an update to the msu file on 9/9/2009 but when i examine the file i can see that file has been signed @ "03 September 2009 01:16:24"

Is this download\file the correct file ?

Thanks i advance and looking forward to using v2
