Abstract

Windows Sidebar Gadgets are lightweight programmable objects that provide real-time, always-available access to information from a web service or application. This session will introduce you to the purpose of the Windows Sidebar, goals of gadget development and the methods you can use to develop gadgets for Windows Sidebar.

What you will learn

  • How you build a gadget using HTML and JavaScript.
  • How to use ASP.NET AJAX to make web service calls from you gadgets.
  • Going beyond HTML & JavaScript with technologies like ActiveX, managed code, WinForms, WPF, & WPF/E

Who Should Attend

Developers who want to understand the when, why, and how to build Sidebar Gadgets for Windows Vista.  This talk will be focused on Developers with some PowerPoint and a lot of demonstration.
