What's new in Visual Studio 2008 & the .NET Framework 3.5 for Smart Client Developers?

I've been spending a bit of time getting spun up on what's new in the .NET Framework 3.5 & Visual Studio 2008.  With all the buzz around Silverlight & ASP.NET AJAX, you may not have heard about the new tools, APIs, and services for Smart Clients.  Here is a list of some of what's coming:

  • WPF "Cider" designer, designer support for WPF/WinForms interop (see my recorded webcast here for more details)
  • ClickOnce enhancements
  • Syncronization Services for ADO.NET
  • Client Application Services

Saurabh Pant has a deck covering these new features and more at http://blogs.msdn.com/saurabh/archive/2007/03/26/smart-client-whats-new-in-orcas.aspx.  The deck is chock full of links to resources.  Saurabh will be delivering a session on these topics as part of our Public Sector webcast series in August.  Keep an eye out here for the announcement.
