Recommend reading "Testers: Get Out of the Quality Assurance Business"

We used to think about we as tester are some kind of gatekeeper for the product, and we are quality assurance (QA) people. In his blog https://www.developsense.com/blog/2010/05/testers-get-out-of-the-quality-assurance-business/, Michael Botlon argue that we as tester has less control or influnce on the quality of the project than developer or a PM. He did provide a couple of very good suggestions that tester can influnce on quality, and on the team. Finally,

he suggestion that

", if you’re a tester, get out of the quality assurance business . Be the best tester you can possibly be: a skilled investigator, rather than a programmer or project manager wannabe"

What do you think in term of tester and testing in SQL Server or Microsoft. Do you think the argument he mentioned also applied. What kind of following action we can do?
