Microsoft has announced that the release of BizTalk server previously referred to as "BizTalk Server 2006 R3" has been upgraded to a full release to "BizTalk Server 2009". New features for this release fall into four areas:

B2B Integration - mobile RFID support, enhanced RFID device support, improved AS2 and EDI support, Drummond certification & updated SWIFT support with Gold certification.

Updated Platform - support for .Net 3.5, VS 2008 SP1, Windows Server 2008 & SQL Server 2008.

SOA & Web Services - UDDI v.3 Web Services Registry, new Oracle EBS and SQL LOB adapters, enhanced host system integration (MQ, IMS, DB2, CICS) & updated ESB Guidance.

Developer & Team Productivity - improved application lifecycle mgmt support including TFS with integrated source control, bug tracking and MSBuild automation.

Current plans for BizTalk Server 2009 call for it to be available in the first half of 2009. Additionally a longer term roadmap for BizTalk was revealed which calls for full product releases about every two years and the emphasis for the next several releases to be on trading partner mgmt, low latency transaction mgmt and real-time business visibility.

Framework Java ora anche su .NET

Meglio tardi che mai... Questa tendenza conferma due cose sostanziali:

1. La valenza di questi framework indipendentemente dal linguaggio in cui sono realizzati

2. Come conseguenza di 1, non si vede perchè non metterli a disposizione di una comunità vasta come quelle dei developer .NET che possono certamente contribuire alla discussione

Siamo agli inizi, quindi è stato rilasciato l'SDK per fare in modo che si possa provare. Dall'inizio del prossimo anno (2009) verranno rilasciati i modelli di business che chiariranno i vari ruoldi di: Microsoft, ISV, Partner, ASP, ISP etc etc

Per quanto riguarda i Telco Operator, molto importante sarà capire come poter sfruttare i meccanismi di Billing e Fatturazione che possono mettere a dispozione ed il ruolo di integratori end 2 end che possono avere.

Per quanto riguarda i Partner, Azure rappresenta a tendere anche una community ove poter pubblicizzare e vendere le proprie applicazioni

.NET outpacing Java for Enterprise?

Investment in .NET is on the up-tick, according to an independent survey conducted by Evans Data Corp. The group found that enterprise .NET investment growth is currently outpacing Java investment growth. The study, which encompassed 350 developers and firms with more than 1,000 employees, found that almost 60% of respondents stated that they are increasing their .NET investment, while 50% said they were adding .NET personnel.

Microsoft ha realizzato una soluzione per gestire al meglio i flussi di pre e post production. L'idea nasce dal fatto che, come per altre applicazioni software, gran parte delle attivita' prevedo interventi manuali molto frequenti.
