Are you ready for your own conference?

Anyone going to Tech Ed who wants to do a brainstorming session on how to pull off the best applied XML and Web services trade show, let Chris or I know.  We rocked last year and are still discussing the possibilities of this year.  It was truly a no overhead conference with lots of brain draining discussion and of course, networking.  I think this is actually going to be my favorite show of the year, cause the focus of the show is on real folks doing real work and the technology they used to make them successful.

I have decided not to attend TechED this year but I would be interested in this type of event. Fill me in on the details!

I have attended Gartner's "Application Integration & Web Services" for the past few years. (Weren't you at the one in Baltimore?) I think a similar conference that's more oriented toward developers doing real integration work would be interesting. Gartner's is great, but they try to cover a lot of territory, and as a developer I have a hard time getting much more than a sense for future directions from it. To be really useful to me, it would need to "show me the code".

Yes I was at the Gartner show. I presented with Greg Andrews of Hewlett Packard. I do think it is a good show. This conference is generally very different. It is classroomish. 1 track, 1 room, 2 days, This is what we did, how we did it, why - from folks that did the work to folks that do work.

Sounds like you've got a definite format in mind already. I've been to a few "Technical Workshops" in Redmond. Is that what you are thinking about? I liked those, but I would like to see the classroom stuff carried a little further, maybe with some hands-on.

I'd definitely be interested in such a conference. I'll try to look you up at Tech Ed to talk about this a little more.

Uh, I just read your original post a little more closely, and realized that you evidently had this conference already, last year? :^}\\

I missed it, somehow. I try to keep up with all the conferences related to EAI, Web Services, etc. Was it advertised on the MS Events site?

Anyway, I still plan to see you at Tech Ed.

It was a small conference. We advertised it on a few media company sites. We did not advertise in a major way. Mostly word of month, blogging, and a series of media sponsorships. This year we can make a bigger noise cause I have been talking to more trade press etc. that really wants to see hands on success. See you at Tech Ed!
