Useful Tools - Hit Send too Quick

Today is one of those days where I am simply doing too many things.  I just made a silly and annoying mistake of hitting send too quickly.  Eileen Crain, a colleague, in all her wisdom about a month ago told me to install a tool called LookOut.  It holds your email in your outbox for a duration of time so if you realize right after you hit send that you were simply too hasty, you can always go back and change it.  Ugh!  So, I am taking her advice.

To the folks that build LookOut, you should really think about simplifying your download process.

Hi, Rebecca: You can actually do this without a third-party tool: See http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/preview.aspx?AssetID=HA010549791033

Not to be confused with the *other* LookOut, which bills itself as "Google for Outlook":

Still in beta, good results.

Does anyone know if it's possible to set a defer time in seconds rather than minutes when using the technique described in that office.microsoft.com article?

Generally I'd only need to hold it for 10 seconds or so to have a chance to correct something after hitting Send.

Rebecca, you can do this with an Outlook rule - no need to use a third party tool!

I only have Outlook 2000 in front of me at the moment, but here are the steps:

1. Open Outlook and select the Tools | Rules Wizard menu command.
2. In Rules Wizard, click New.
3. For Which type of rule do you want to create?, select Check messages after sending, then click Next.
4. Click Next again, and tell Clippy (if he's there) Yes.
5. For What do you want to do with the message?, select defer delivery by a number of minutes.
6. In the Rule description pane, click the "a number of" link.
7. Select a number of minutes to defer delivery by, then click OK.
8. In Rules Wizard, click Finish.

Hope this helps. If nothing else, it is fodder for searches on Feedster :)
