VB Rocks!

Say Anything

You should never start a blog and then post a bunch and then do nothing, right? Well, let it not be said that I made no posts for an entire week!

This will be a short post. I am off to Utah for a week of skiing. An annual trip full of great skiing, great food and friends. I'll tell you all about it the week after next. In other good news, pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training today. Life is good. So now you know that in addition to VB, I love skiing and baseball.

When I get back, I will tell you about the new monthly VB meeting at the .NET Developers Association. And I will preview upcoming conferences, including speaking appearances by none other than the famous VB team.

Robert,

I was in Park City last March for snowboarding, and it was quite nice. My group went to Park City and the Canyons, and I personally enjoyed Park City better.

If you haven't been to Breckenridge, then I suggest you go, much better than the experiences I had in Utah, the snow was the most perfect I've ever experienced.

I'm with you on the spring training part. It's a shame that the Yankees don't have quite the rotation they had last year though (can you tell I'm a Yankees fan?)

The Yankees will prove for the 4th year in a row that you can't buy a World Series.
1. The rotation is old and unproven. Kevin Brown will not last the year. How will Mike Mussina fare without Clemens and Petitte? Can Javier Vasquez deal with the NY pressure? And weak is the nicest word I can find for a #4 and #5 of Contreras and Leiber. [On the other hand they can buy better pitchers later in the year.]
2. It is a waste of money to play Pay-Rod at 3rd. He is far and away a better SS than Jeter. Of course, they don't have a 2nd baseman so who will notice? [On the other hand they can buy a 2nd baseman later in the year.]
3. They should have been the NY team to buy Mike Cameron. A CF platoon of Bernie Williams and Kenny Lofton is nuts. Lots of heart, but no legs. [On the other hand, they can buy a young CF later in the year.]

Add it up and you get too many holes. My prediction: the Yankees streak of not winning the World Series rises to 4 this year. [And yeah yeah yeah, I know that is 81 fewer than the BoTox <sic> current number.]
