Tim Bray Joins Sun Microsystems

Tim Bray has an excellent and thoughtful post on why he chose to work at Sun Micrososystems. Best of luck to Tim in his new endeavor.

UPDATE- I received a comment that Bray's assessment of .NET is inaccurate.  I think that his views on .NET represent his perspective, and while they're not the same as my views I didn't judge his post on technical merit or based on his opinion of Microsoft.  I think that the excellence in his post comes from his description of his thought process in deciding to join Sun and also in the mechanics of how they recruited him.

I thought his "80/20" and "use the web" .Net comments were fairly innacurate.

I thought so too.

I must admit I never heard of Tim Bray (as in: the name doesn't ring a bell) so I'm unfamiliar with his views on the matter before he joined Sun, however how he speaks about .NET is showing that he doesn't understand .NET at all but has a clear opinion about it. I'd say: that attitude must come with the contract Sun gives to employees ;) :)

I don't think it did the SUN stocks any good - it's still under 5 bucks and their bonds are still considered junk.
