Microsoft RFID and other PDC 2005 Musings

Microsoft has been actively making progress with our RFID story, and soon we'll have even more to talk about. With BizTalk Server being a very strategic part of our upcoming RFID offering, it's something I'm personally keeping an eye on.

If you're looking for more info on RFID and our thoughts on it, check these out:

At PDC, we'll be talking a bit about RFID, and I'll be attending the session entitled Making the Most of RFID in your Applications. If you are in manufacturing, healthcare or utilities, RFID is something that will probably impact you in the near future. Although not new technology by any means, recent developments in readers and software make it a fairly compelling solution now.

FYI, other PDC sessions that I'll be (hopefully) attending and "live blogging" include ...

  • SQL Server 2005: Building Distributed, Asynchronous Database Applications with the Service Broker
  • Advanced ETL: Embedding Integration Services
  • Developing Rules Driven Workflows
  • Future Directions: Beyond BizTalk Server 2006
  • Workflow + Messaging + Services: Developing Distributed Applications with Workflow
  • Developing Web Services Using ASP.NET and WSE That Interoperate with the Windows Communications Foundation ("Indigo")

Finally, a quick shout-out to Developer Evangelist Woody Pewitt who's helping with the PDC Underground event Tuesday night. Whether you're going to PDC or not, you're invited to this sweet session hosted at the Westin.
