Reliable Messaging sanity?
WS-ReliableMessaging (WS-RM) was submitted to OASIS back in April 2005. This means that it's on its way to becoming a ratified standard. But what may not be aparrent from this innocuous statement is that OASIS also owns the WS-Reliability standard, (created by Sun, Fujitsu, Sonic Software etc). This is actually really great news. Instead of there being two overlapping and yet incompatible reliable-messaging standards out there causing no end of problems for customers and technology vendors alike, it looks like the OASIS Web Services Reliable Exchange (WS-RX) Technical Committee (TC) has an opportunity to create one globally adopted standard for reliable-messaging. Let's hope the TC doesn't waste this opportunity.
