.NET Framework 3.0 July CTP Released!

I know that many of you eagerly awaited the June 2006 .NET Framework 3.0 (formerly "WinFX") CTP so that you could start cranking on code, demos and Proof Of Concept (POC) apps that utilize CardSpace and the other NETFX3 technologies.

Alas, I regret to inform you that there are a couple of glitches in the June06-CTP CardSpace which result in CardSpace failing to appear as expected, and in another case, CardSpace closes prematurely! My good, (albeit noisy) friend Garrett Serack, Community PM for CardSpace, has posted a note to the CardSpace discussion forum outlining a couple of these problems as well as partial remedies.

The good news is that we've just released the .NET Framework 3.0 July06-CTP which includes a more recent build of CardSpace. This build has been tested much more extensively and is known to work for all key scenarios involving self-issued and managed cards, supports x509 Certs carried on Smart-Cards, etc.

Note also that we'll shortly be shipping a bunch of samples (all tested against the July06-CTP) including the now famous Contoso Rent A Car demo, along with a SimpleSTS and a Managed Card Creator enabling you to build out managed card scenarios too.

Therefore, If you are planning on building CardSpace apps, sites, services, demos, POC's, etc., I strongly encourage you to download & install the NETFX3 July06-CTP – you'll save a lot of wasted time and headaches ;)
