It’s here! .NET Framework 3.0 RTM

After several years of hard work by over a thousand people, combined with the support of the hundreds of customers and partners who've helped us shape the amazing technologies in .NET Framework 3.0, we're delighted to announce that the .NET Framework 3.0 has now been released to manufacturing and is now downloadable for Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server!

I would like to extend my congratulations to all of the teams who have worked to create this amazing platform:

  • The Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) team for building an amazingly powerful user experience platform
  • The Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) team for turning the promise of "Indigo" into reality
  • The Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) team for creating an incredibly powerful app logic, workflow and state-machine engine
  • The Windows CardSpace team who've created a world-changing technology to protect users from identity phraud and restoring trust to transacting on the internet

I for one remember the day that I decided to move to the US to join the most exciting technology team I'd ever seen – "Indigo". It's been a wild ride ever since and feel enormously grateful for having the opportunity to work with such an amazingly talented group of people. But then my luck stayed with me and I had the opportunity to take on Product Management of Windows CardSpace and have had the opportunity to work with another exceptionally talented team of people who not only want to, but actually CAN improve the world we live in.

Rest assured - this isn't the end. It's very much the beginning! With these foundations now in place, we can go to town and start creating the kinds of applications and technologies that we've only dreamt of in the past. Perhaps more exciting is seeing what *YOU* are doing with our technologies. I've seen some amazing demos from several customers and partners in the recent past and my mind boggles when I see what people are planning to deliver on top of the .NET Framework 3.0 platform.

It all starts now – what is *YOUR* story going to be?
