My Second PDC05 Talk

Published 15 September 05 02:47 PM | ricom

I was talking about memory management issues -- and diagnosis with simple tools today.  I promised to post an entry with the location of the various tools I mentioned and here it is:

You can get information on windbg at this location.

Vadump has usage information and a download from msdn and microsoft.com respectively.

If those links break, searching for windbg and vadump on the microsoft.com home page gave good results, that's how I got those links in the first place.

CLR Profiler is available here and for Beta2+ here.

It comes with documentation but there is additional material available in the Performance PAG in Chapter 13.

You can get my LogDump tool from my blog here.

Thanks for coming!

Hi Rico.

Great talks at the PDC. I am just getting around to trying some of your tips. Q: I am trying to use VADump on an asp.net worker process (aspnet_wp.exe), but vadump tells me OpenProcess Failed c0000034. I assume it is because the process is running as the ASPNET identity. Any way to get around this?

Thanks
