We have a lot of enhancements planned for this area, but here’s something you can do right now with Service Pack 1, which should satisfy some basic branch office expectations.

re: Branch Office with Response Point SP1

We are looking into this phone system. We have one main office that sbs 2003prem with isa 2004 sp3.One brach office is connected by a T-1 data only line 1.5 up/down. The other office i have a vpn to vpn hooked up. Plus remote users log in by vpn also. Since the sbs isa gives the ip out to each computer at each office with the same 192.168.16.000 range, would we not be able to use just one use one base unit and have the phones all on hte same ip range? We have 20 to 25 people with 4 locations in different area codes in two states. 2nd ? is can we use one database for the caller id funtion so we can pull up client information thats important into outlook.

thanks in advance.

re: Branch Office with Response Point SP1

In your case it sounds like you want one central base unit, with phones in 4 locations. If you bridge those locations into the same subnet, it will work.

A bridged WAN is pretty unnatural. Do it if you need to, but I hate encouraging people to do it. Some RP deployments have it working over VPN. There are a few side effects with this, so we don't officially support it yet. We'll have an update in a few months (touch wood) that officially supports deploying phones over VPNs.
