IC08: Imagine Cup 2008 – Day Zero

We’ll we all made it to Paris. I got in last night, and Karo arrived with most of the Australian Winners, Team SOAK this morning. Unfortunately, due to a visa mixup, Dimaz will only be arriving on Friday morning – probably a little too late, not to mention

Up the Mighty Swan

Once all the demos were delivered, we were treated to an evening out on the Swan River. As you can see, we were treated like kings, cruising downstream with the magnetic views of Perth in the background. We reached the apex of the cruise at about sunset.

Blogging on an aeroplane

Even on my amazingly light and compact Toshiba R500, this is eminently possible in Economy on a long-haul flight. Eminently inconvenient on a short-haul flight. My display is dangerously jammed up against the reclined seat ahead, the keyboard angled over

Wide Awake Developers: Steve Jobs Made Me Miss My Flight

I caught this blog as commented on Guy Kawasaki's Truemors Site. Not only do I empathise, I too have been a participant in the current US "war against terror" as conducted through Airport Security (check out this blog ), but I had to laugh.

Anything's Possible

Talk about inspiring!! This morning our keynote was from Michio Kaku , a Theoretical Physicist and Futurist. We looked into advances in wearable computing, from glasses, to clothes, jewellery even. In a world where the average silicon chip costs less

Trial by Diet

So a couple of days ago I blogged about my intention, nay, passion to maintain my diet and exercise regime whilst here at the Academic Airlift Conference here in Seattle. I thought I'd give a little visual representation of just how difficult this is

From the ashes...

At least that's how I felt this morning :) No, no, I didn't have too many beers last night. I did, however, have too little sleep. Yep, a function of being away at a conference, and trying to keep on top of my day job. So what have I been learning thus

Early Mornings, Late Nights

Well, here I am, in Seattle, and the weather is just as shown on TV (Gray's Anatomy), which is to say cold and wet. I am enjoying being back though. I'm finding it like seeing an old friend. There are still new experiences to enjoy, but a familiarity

The trials of travelling (with a light laptop)

Just connecting through San Francisco en route to my 2 week study madness in Seattle, and thought I might share my travel experiences. Firstly the flight was superb, at least that which I remember... Y'see I got a 4 seat row to myself, which is arguably

Heading Out

The time has come for our bi-annual TechReady event. This is a training conference hosted for Microsoft technical roles in Seattle. Typically each MS member gets to go to Seattle once a year, either in the Winter (now) or Summer (Jul/Aug). The conference
