Now this is what you’d call Brand Loyalty!

I talk quite a bit about brand loyalty not only in my presentations but also in my blog posts (here, here, etc). But recently Jeremiah Owyang pointed out this open letter from AOL to Google (did you get the joke?) which is an excellent example of brand loyalty.

If you read the letter, you’d agree with the point made by AOL. Yes they were the first to implement many of the features that google offers today.

And just when you think that AOL nailed it and google better come up with a good reply to the letter, you eyes glance over to the comments section…  And you realize… Ah… Google won’t have to do that… It’s brand loyalty has done the trick!

Yes, those are some very strong comments right there. Fanatics you might say… or just loyal to the brand they like…

I am not trying to bring your attention to AOL or google or tell you who is right and who is wrong, but to how important it is to have that place in the minds of your consumers where they would protect your brand (the brand that they love) even before you come to know of a certain event which requires the attention of your brand manager.

Just a little something to ponder over during the weekend :-)

Cheers and have a good weekend
