&lt;p&gt;To extend your post, I think following steps needs to be followed to completely move to new SQL Server database environment.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;6. Run Full Crawl of SharePoint Search and make sure that search configuration is not effected by this change&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;7. deploy all custom developed controls again because as soon as you disconnect a SharePoint Server from a web farm all solutions will also be removed from that server.&lt;/p&gt;
