Tuning WF Rules Performance

I posted this on my blog today after we saw a question about this on the WF MSDN forums. In future releases we are looking at providing more analysis capabilities on your rules which should make a lot easier for you to tune your rules.

Does rule have to be associated with a Policyactivity?

I hope there are global rules which do not explicitly associate with any activity, but implicitly associate with some events.

For example, when a datum is about to change, the rule will be triggered to check if the change is valid.

I think this mechanism should be implemented on the very low-level in the .NET technology stacks, maybe CLR level?

No, rules dont have to be used with a Policy Activity necessary. Rules can be used in simple conditional activities such as if-else, replicator, while etc. Policy activities use a "RuleSet".

That said, Rules and RuleSets can be outside the context of a workflow.
