You have to admit... it's a Catchy Title!!
It's the first post on the "Art of the Possible" category on my technical Blog.. it's more on getting rid of your old habits and use the help of Microsoft Outlook 2007!
When i was a young teenager i read a story about an old Chinese method that was used to help people get over their concerns and problems... it goes like this... a Person can write down all his concerns and problems on a piece of paper.. then package the paper to be like a Paper airplane (also known as a Kite) and try to fly it using a long thread (an extremly thin rope)... when the airplane is high in the sky.... the person would cut the thread... and his problems and concerns would be "gone with the wind" :o) ...
So my post is very similar... but i'm just using more technologies in it :o)... and i based it on a personal experience too! (Yeah i'm a pathetic Techy / Geek :P)
With the same purpose of setting reminders... we use them in order not to overwhelm ourselves trying to remember details... so as long as we can rely on a good reminding system... we simply don't keep everything in our heads..
Microsoft Outlook 2007 is an Amazing tool to keep track of everything and to get and stay organized... i use it to organize everything and to try to keep my Work Life Balance too using the Calendar Tool...
So Here's the Steps:
Step #1: this step is not related to Outlook... you actually need to Remember in your head to call your EX every 3 weeks.. and have a phone conversation for 3 minutes... and try that for 2 - 3 times.. ( which means about 9 weeks )
Step #2: you need to move this habit from your Head to Outlook
If you're someone who relies on his Calendar a lot... your calendar should look like mine... as the below (the Coloring is something really cool.. and is related to Categories)
Step #3: You Choose to place a reminder on a Sunday at 1 PM

Step #4: You open this Appointment and click on Reccurence Button and choose on the recurrence patterns "Weekly" and recur every "3" weeks

You will notice that an Appointment will appear every 3 Sundays on your calendar that will remind you to "Call your Ex"

Step #5: try to apply that for 2 - 3 times (Another 9 weeks) and this would make you do the same thing that you've been doing (calling your Ex every 3 Weeks for 3 Minutes).. only here you don't think of it anymore.. it's in your Outlook...
Step #6: you move to the interesting part... you right click on the appointment ... and click "DELETE"

Step #7: Choose "Delete the Series"

After a while you will notice that you have got rid of the habit of calling your ex..
Congratulations... it's Possible :o)
I tried and it has worked for me...
Cheers,
SC
