WinHelp for Windows Vista!

The WinHlp32.exe installer was posted on the download center yesterday at 4:29 PM.  With this release, Vista customers can now install the WinHelp application on their system and securely view .HLP files on Vista.

WinHlp32.exe for Vista represents a major improvement in the WinHelp codebase from previous releases.  Since last summer, we have introduced several new security mitigation features for WinHelp and fixed hundreds of prefix, prefast, SAL, banned API, and OACR bugs.  We are confident that Vista customers who install this application will be much more secure than past users of the application.

This release also signifies an important step towards the ultimate end of life for WinHlp32.exe.

·         This release applies to Windows Vista x86 and x64 only.  The release plan for Longhorn Server to be determined.

·         The WinHelp for Vista KB article is scheduled to be updated with release documentation in the next 24 hours.
