We released June CTP version of Sandcastle earlier this week and got some great feedback (and bugs) from forums, blogs and via email about this release. The sandcastle blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/sandcastle/archive/2007/06/19/announcing-june-2007-sandcastle-ctp.aspx) provides details on this release.

Community Projects:

We already have 2 GUI projects available at Codeplex that supports June CTP as I am super impressed with how quickly Dave and Stephan updated their popular GUI projects overnight. See http://codeplex.com/Tagging/TagDetail.aspx?TagName=Sandcastle

In addition Dave's project supports  VS integration and I have details below on few of the available Codeplex projects:

1.       http://www.codeplex.com/DocProject - DocProject drives the Sandcastle help generation tools using the power of Visual Studio 2005 and MSBuild. Choose from various project templates that build compiled help version 1.x or 2.x for all project references. DocProject facilitates the administration and development of project documentation with Sandcastle, allowing you to use the integrated tools of Visual Studio 2005 to customize Sandcastle's output. See screen shot below:

2.    http://www.inchl.nl/SandcastleGUI/ - Sandcastle GUI V1.3 has been updated to work with Stephan. Also please visit Stephan's site http://www.inchl.nl for more details on the INCHL framework.

3.    Eric deserves all the credit for popularizing Sandcastle (since it's first release last July) with his nDoc styled GUI Sandcastle Help File Builder (SHFB). SHFB will be available on 6/25 at http://www.codeplex.com/SHFB

Thank you all of you for helping Sandcastle and Microsoft community. You truly are Sandcastle MVPs. My apologies if I had missed any other community projects in the above list. Please email me and I will be happy to add them to this blog.

Thanks Anand.  DocProject's number of downloads has tripled, even in the first two days after you posted about it and I've already received several discussion posts and emails about some issues that I'll work on for the next release.  I'm going to blog about this sometime next week too and I'm sure more people will see it now, so thanks again.

Is there (anywhere) a comprehensive list of tags that can be used in XML Document Comments and the attributes that go along with them, that are used/parsed/available for Sandcastle?

I have seen the docs on XML Document Comments on MSDN (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/5ast78ax(VS.80).aspx) and looked at the NDoc documentation.  Some of these are the same, but others contradict.  Even the stuff on MSDN is not the same (one example show the <see> element as

   "<see cref="name"/>"

while another shows it as

   "<see cref="name">description</see>"

I have yet to find a comprehensive list of tag/attributes or an example doc that shows the tags/attributes and the various ways they can be used.

Thanks,

Eric
