The power of simplicity

JFo - who used to work with me on the Windows Forms team before she fled moved do Australia, just posted a video on her blog about the One Laptop Per Child.

What a really cool device.  It doesn't seem to do too much, but that's not really the point.  From the review, it looks like there was a lot of thought given to it.  I remember growing up doing BASIC and LOGO programming so the stuff on there really resonates.  I need to dig into it a bit - I assume it's all localized, and I'm not sure if it has a web browser - but it seems like a noble idea if nothing else.

Like, I wonder how they support these things in the countries that they're designed for, how do they train the teachers, etc.  I'm sure the device is the simple part compared to that.

In any case, check out the video, it's interesting.
